Division Descriptions:

Challenger Baseball

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 5-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.  Today more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide.

Teams are set up according to abilities, rather than age, and can include as many as 15-20 players. Challenger games can be played as t-ball games, coach pitch, player pitch, or a combination of the three.

In a Challenger game, each player gets a chance at bat. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster, or when a pre-determined number of runs have been scored, or when three outs are recorded. Little League recommends that no score be kept during Challenger games. The Challenger players wear the same uniforms, shoulder patches and safety equipment as other Little League players.

One of the benefits of having a Challenger Division is that it encourages the use of "buddies" for the Challenger players. The buddies assist the Challenger players on the field but whenever possible, encourage the players to bat and make plays themselves. However, the buddy is always nearby to help when needed.

Learn to Play (i.e. T-Ball) (4-5)

This is designed for first time & young players so they can learn the basics of the game. It is a fast, fun paced series of skills and drills followed by a quick 1 or 2 inning game. It generally lasts an hour long and requires lots of parent & grandparent involvement! THIS PROGRAM IS NOT A DROP OFF SERVICE!!!! Each child MUST have an adult remain at the ball diamonds at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! This is the most fun you can have on a ball diamond!!!

ROOKIE

Junior Rookie (5-6)

The focus and goal of Junior Rookie is to instruct young baseball players on the basics of fielding, base running and hitting techniques.  The game becomes more like "real baseball" with coaches / parents pitching.  Junior Rookie uses a soft-core hard ball, outs are counted, score is kept, and the division will have a tournament at the middle and end of the season.

Senior Rookie (7-8)

This division builds on the basic skills learned in Junior Rookie. The most notable difference is that the players begin pitching as part of the games, with the coaches / parents helping when needed. Senior Rookie uses a soft-core hard ball, outs are counted, score is kept, and the division will have a tournament at the middle and end of the season.

MINOR AND MAJOR

Here is where the real game experience comes into play. These divisions divide into AA (house league) and AAA (travel team) based on the level of the players. This is where teams start to go to tournaments and we start to groom our pitchers. Uses a 60-foot diamond with pitching distance set at 46 feet. Features a full range of tournament play

Minor (10U)

  • At this level, children are playing 12-man baseball.

  • Teams play 14-16 league games and at least two tournaments including playoffs.

  • Player's skills are evaluated in order to determine which tier they will play in as well providing the coaches with ratings on each player.

  • Based on the evaluation ratings, teams are drafted by the coaches.

  • All players are eligible to try out for All Star play.

Major (12U)

  • Teams in both divisions play 14-16 league games as well as at least two tournament including playoffs.

  • Player's skills are evaluated in order to determine which tier they will play in as well providing the coaches with ratings on each player.

  • All players are eligible to try out for All Star play.

INTERMEDIATE (13U), JUNIOR (14U) AND SENIOR (16U)

These divisions are a little more competitive, only because that is the nature of the players in this age group. Our coaches emphasize fun, sportsmanship, technique and strategy. Uses an 80-foot diamond with pitching distance set at 60 feet 6 inches. You will see your child excel at a position that they will likely favor well into adulthood.

  • Player's skills are evaluated in order to determine which tier they will play in, as well as providing the coaches with ratings on each player.

  • Based on the evaluation ratings, teams are drafted by the coaches.

  • Teams in these divisions play 14-16 league games as well as at least two tournaments including playoffs.
